Yearly update & My first vlog!

Welcome readers! It has been almost a year now since I have made a post. I have been wanting to blog for at least a month now but I couldn't remember my blog page 😅 I checked my bookmarks, web browser, my Facebook page and even asked some friends if they happened to have the link but it was to no avail. Somehow this morning after some digging, I was able to recover my blog site and it was just in time because I just finished filming my very first vlog.

A vlog is like a blog except it's video'ed. Looking back I wish I would have talked a bit on it but I'll keep that in mind for the next one. I really wish my blog site allowed me to post the full video but it was too long so I had to upload it to YouTube. For now, it is not searchable on YouTube and only accessible through my blog. This is to protect mine and my children's privacy a little more.

I have the blog linked below. Continue reading below for a recap of our weekend and life updates

In my first vlog spend 24 hours with me beginning Saturday evening and ending Sunday evening. :)

Friday night we took the kids to their first football game. My high school had an alumni tailgate prior to the game and I was able to chat and snap pics with some old buddies. They had a large turnout as it was homecoming as well as fifteen or so years of past alumni attending. It was great to see some old friends but I have never been able to visit well with someone with my two kids running about. It's like half my brain and one eye is in the conversation and the other eye is on the kids.

After the tailgate we stopped by McDonalds and bought the kids a happy meal which was served in a Halloween trick-or-treat bucket then we drove down to my old high school to watch the game. The weather was the perfect crisp fall for a football game. The air was chilly and I wore jeans, a scarf and boots. Normally it's still sweltering here so I was pleased to dress up in some fall fashion.

Pictured here leaving the house before the tailgate. I had just returned home from running errands and heard the old country song with the lyrics, "Lord have mercy, Baby's got her blue jeans on." 😆🏈

My husband and I haven't been to a football game since I was in high school. During the game he commented that the fog hung low barely grazing the spotlights and it was just like old times when he would come to watch me cheer and play the trumpet in the band. Speaking of the band, the halftime show was the highlight of the night for me. I was happy to see the band thriving, large in number and they put on a fantastic show not only musically but also theatrically. We left shortly after halftime and our team was up 10-0. We had a great night making memories at our first football game as a family.

Saturday morning we left home and drove quite a distance to pickup our new RV. Along the way we stopped for lunch at Cracker Barrel. This restaurant is always a hit for the whole family. The kids love the meatloaf, mashed potatoes and vegetables and they have a myriad of southern choices to please mom and dad. Plus, the kids and I love perusing the gift shop. There isn't a thing in the Cracker Barrel gift shop I wouldn't buy if given the chance LOL! If I worked there I would break even on my paycheck. They have the loveliest heirloom quilts (which I own two of), ornate jewelry, the absolute cutest kids clothes and the most unique gifts. There is truly a treasure for everyone!

After lunch we retrieved our RV and made the road trip home. Along the way we stopped at a county fair but the sun was still high in the sky and it was sweltering outside. The crowd didn't look kid friendly (and would you believe we did see later on the news there was a shooting with two teenagers involved)! It's a good thing we didn't go in. They also charged a high entrance fee just to walk in! Of course leaving the fair can break a kids heart so we formulated our back up plan before breaking the news to the kids. We were going to take them to an amusement park and arcade closer to home.

This is where the vlog above begins so I won't go into much detail from here on regarding the next 24 hours. But in the vlog you will see us visiting the arcade, I show an RV tour, we had lunch downtown and went grocery shopping. I hope you enjoy the video as much as I enjoyed creating it.

Life Update - One Year Later!

It has been nearly a year since I last blogged and a lot of change has happened in our family! Good change :) The children are another year older and another holiday season is upon us. We have been enjoying all of the fall festivals around this time of year and are preparing for Halloween as well as an RV trip.

My husband and I celebrated our 15 year wedding anniversary this summer! There have been so many more milestones throughout the year. I am homeschooling my preschooler and my kindergartener this year.

The biggest news I suppose is that we have moved! We sold our home that we brought both children into and have lived in for the past six years. We were traveling full-time on our motorhome whenever we came back and purchased our home. I was pregnant with our first child and my husband fixed the home up. It was a beautiful home and we enjoyed the neighborhood and living there very much. However, it was time for a change. So, as two real estate entrepreneurs, we began our search for another "deal". We discovered the perfect one, a few towns over and we completed our sale this past summer. We had some hiccups along the way during the closing process (no fault of our own) but we persevered and it all worked out well.

Our new home also is a fixer upper. It is a gorgeous home with beautiful detailing and lots of character. It is full of natural light, stained glass, hardwood floors and so many wonderful characteristics. We have been thrust into quite possibly the busiest season of our lives now with two children under the age of five, our self employed businesses and now the undertaking of fixing up our own personal residence WHILE LIVING IN IT! That my friends, is no easy feat. I wouldn't recommend it but I wouldn't change it either.

The home renovations are coming along nicely. Slowly, but nicely. Part of me always thinks things will be easier than what they ever are. Need some backyard work? "Sure, all you have to do is just chop a few trees down, rake the leaves, put some new mulch and flowers in. Eh, no biggie. Have it done in a weekend." Yea, doesn't really work that way with two kids. Haha!

So instead of bulldozing forward, I've decided to just slow down on the process and enjoy life as it comes. I would rather move slower on my home and not miss out on anything else or be in a worn out funky mood than have the house done sooner.

We love our new community. There is a plethora of nature here to enjoy. We see deer at all times of day (although they keep eating my newly planted flowers)! There is a golf cart and bike trail along all of the roads in this community as well as a golf course, pools and parks. It is very peaceful here and we are loving all of the newness to our lives. Variety is the spice of life! :)

I typed this post in half an hour but it felt like five minutes flew by. I truly enjoy writing and I hope you enjoyed this post however, duty calls and I've plans this evening. You know, to cook dinner, rake more leaves and possibly carve some pumpkins. :) Enjoy the remainder of October, friends. Remember, Fall is a beautiful season to remember that letting go of things, just as the tree's lose their leaves, is a lovely and rewarding experience.
