Old MacDonald Had A Farm First Birthday
As I write this it is the Eve of party day! Tomorrow is my son's first birthday party. I really just want to be happy on this day and not stressed out. I didn't invite too many guests because I really want to enjoy being with him and soaking it all up rather than playing hostess. All I want is for my family to be healthy and together to enjoy the day.
To see big sister's excitement when she gives him his gift from her.
To make memories with her decorating for his party.
To witness every smile, every giggle and kiss his chubby cheeks too many times.
I have always let my daughter choose the theme of her birthday. I ask her what kind of birthday she would like and then I design the decor and food around that. I plan to let them choose like this for as long as they will :-) However, the first birthday is the only birthday of my choosing. Meaning I choose the theme since they're too young to really have any interests yet. I noticed my son really enjoyed the song 'Old MacDonald Had A Farm' so that's what inspired me to go with this barnyard bash theme.
I started tossing around ideas and planning it only a few weeks ago and now here we are on the eve of party day! I would suggest planning sooner but it all came together quite nicely and sometimes the sooner I start planning, the more money I wind up spending. This birthday has come together surprisingly easy. I'm not sure if I'm just getting the hang of these parties better now or what but I'm glad for the mostly stress free planning experience. It also has been pretty good on my wallet, too! I found some great items for even better prices at Hobby Lobby, surprisingly way less than what I saw on Amazon! I found the cutest (and easiest) themed snack ideas from Pinterest and the barn and balloon tower animals are homemade!
